Markdown to MediaWiki cheat sheet

MarkdownMediaWiki
## Heading=== Heading ===
**bold**'''bold'''
*italic*''italic''
[text](url)[url text]
- item* item
1. item# item
table{| class="wikitable"

Notes on the output

Markdown # becomes ==, because MediaWiki reserves the single = level for the page title. Code blocks with a language use <syntaxhighlight>, which needs the SyntaxHighlight extension (installed on Wikipedia and most large wikis); blocks without a language use <pre>. Links to other sites are written as external links; turn them into [[internal links]] by hand where needed.

Other formats

Markdown converts to: Confluence, Jira, Slack, LaTeX, BBCode, AsciiDoc, reStructuredText, plus HTML, PDF, Word and Excel.

Tables start with {| class="wikitable", rows are separated by |-, header cells start with ! and the table ends with |}.
