Our Commitment to Privacy

MarkdownForge is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your markdown content, notes, and documents are yours alone.

What We DO NOT Collect

  • No markdown content: Your markdown documents never leave your browser
  • No user accounts: We don't require registration or store user data
  • No document uploads: All processing happens locally in your browser
  • No personal information: We don't collect names, emails, or any PII
  • No tracking of document content: We never see what you write

What Happens Locally (In Your Browser)

  • Auto-save: Editor content is saved to your browser's Local Storage
  • Preferences: Theme settings and tool preferences stored in Local Storage
  • History: Recent documents list stored in IndexedDB
  • Client-side processing: All conversions, exports, and transformations happen in your browser

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how people use our site. This includes page views, browser type, and geographic location (country level only). Ahrefs Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies for tracking or collect personal identifiable information.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: Your data is in your browser's DevTools
  • Delete: Clear browser data to remove all MarkdownForge content
  • Export: Use browser tools to export Local Storage data

Data Security

All data stays in your browser - the most secure option. There's no server transmission of document content and no vulnerability to server breaches.

Summary

MarkdownForge is privacy-first by design. Your markdown content never leaves your browser, we don't track what you write, and you maintain complete control over your data.
